BREAKING THE LIMIT

He was born into a family of seven children, three girls and four boys. He happens to be the first son and the fourth child of his parent.
Before his arrival into his family, his mother had about three girls; in some part of Africa a man is not yet successful until he has a male child that will bear his name after his departure. Because of this kind of mindset in most Africa, his father started to have pressure coming from the families members that he should go and marry a second wife that will bear him a male child.
His Dad didn’t take their advice because of the love he had for his mother. When the pressure became so high his Dad decided to take action.
One Sunday morning Dad went to the church as early as 5am, when no one was there and prayed and ask God to give him a male child, he went into covenant with God which is “if God give him a male child, he will give God a priest”. God had him and gave him four male children.
12years of his life as a teenager was spent in the northern state, Maiduguri. His life took a new shape when his Dad decided that the entire family will be relocating to Lagos.
Life in Lagos exposes his real self to him because he has to repeat some classes that he could not prove that he went through. While in Lagos state he could barely speak or write, the only two languages that he could speak as of that time was “Igbo and Hausa”. He struggled to past his common entrance examination in to secondary school.
It was in his secondary school days that his secret was made known to the whole world. While in ss1 class he could barely read or write, posterity caught on him when the principal of his school decided to inspect all classes of the school with some special invigilator from the government.
His class was the first he had to start with, while in the classroom he sighted him at the back sit and ask for him to come and read a new rules and regulation to the whole class that the special invigilator brought from the government.
At first he thought it could not be him that this man just called, he try to hid from it but he insist that he was the one he ask for. At that point it now done on him that this could be the end of his journey.
As he stood before his classmate he could not see any word that was written on that paper, he couldn’t read nor pronounce a word from it. The principal was shock to know that a boy in ss1 class can’t read.
He pointed his Cain to him and said “how do you get to this class” at that point he prayed that the earth open and swallow me, he drag him to his office and said to him “if at this stage of your life you are still struggling to read, my advice for you is go and learn a skill or go into business, he handed over a letter to him and said give it to your parent when you get home.
As he got home that morning, he handed over the letter to his mother. As she read it the content; which says “this boy should go back to primary school or should go and learn a skill, he can not do better as a student. In summary he was ask to leave school.
He was out of school for the period of two years. The first year of his life, he was in business with one of my uncle in ladipo while the second year he was in the street of Lagos selling pure water.
One day, as he was selling his pure water, he came across an old man who said to him “Boy you are more than what you are doing, go back to school”. He replied him back sir, I can’t read or write, and he said to him boy; “I believe in you”. That was the very first time in his life he had such word.
After that encounter with the old man, he later resolves to go back to school. He started reading at ss1 class in second term; he could not recall how many times he sat for WEAC, GCE, NECO, AND JAMB examinations.
